prism splitting white light

Light:- Light is most important because it helps us to visualize our whole environment. Without light, the colors, shapes and details we perceive cannot be made out. Light travels in a straight line, but it can curve when it moves through other objects. For instance, one unique object that can bend light is called a prism. A prism is typically a transparent medium, commonly glass or plastic, with a certain geometric form. As the prism refracted light, many splendid colours appeared, exhibiting a rainbow within the prism. The splitting of light and bending is called prism splitting or light refraction.

The Spectral Brilliance of Prism Splitting

But white light does not merely go right through a prism. This causes it to slow down and be deflected at different angles. This bending of the colors occurs because every hue in the light spectrum has a distinct wavelength, which can be interpreted as a length that defines the speed of travel. For instance, red light travels at a different velocity than blue light. After light gets in the prism, different colours bend otherwise. This causes the colors to get dispersed or separated from each other resulting in a beautiful spectrum of colors which we see.
